    Hey there,

My laptop was working perfectly up until yesterday. I have not downloaded or installed any software.

When I start it up a blue screen appears saying:

A thread tried to release a resource it did not own.

Check to make sure any new hardware or software installed is properly installed. It there is a new installation ask your hardware or software manufacturere for windows update.

Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.

Use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart computer, press F8 select advanced statue options then select safe mode!

I turned off pc and turned it back on and did safe mode, I didnt touch the BIOS, after disk check etc... it opens into my desktop but it wont connect to the internet. Yesterday it did and ran and worked normally for the day but then when I turned it off it started up the same way again today!

Any ideas of what might be wrong would be greatly appreciated!

Its a DELL studio 15......its first ever problem!

    Thanks in advance :D

I've seen this problem before and fixed it in a number of ways. First off if you are stuck choose Safe Mode with Networking to login and be able to go online. But I think you'll find if you log in in safe mode, shutdown and restart it will work fine, then go bad again.

    Some stuff to try:

System File Checker - Will run through and replace any corrupt system files. Click the windows button and in the search bar type cmd, right click and choose run as admin.
In the popup enter: sfc /scannow
Try rebooting and see what happens.

If that doesn't work try a system restore. This won't delete any of your files it will just roll back the Windows files to an earlier version. Again hit the windows button, type in system restore. Run the program and choose a restore point from when the computer was working.

If you've no joy and you're still under warranty I'd think about sending it back, just backup all your files first because there is a good chance they won't send you back the same laptop.

    Good luck :)
