    Hi all,

So I've just found out that someone in the gang has drop a lovely Dell Inspiron 1525 and the screen has several cracks with and the liquid visible in spots. It has a Glossy LCD widescreen 15.4 inch display (1280x800) and was purchased in Canada with a 1 Year Limited Warranty w/1 Year Return To Depot Service back in December 2008.

Anyone know what my options are? I believe I need to bin it or go in search of a repair shop. If it's the latter can someone point me to a few good places? I'm based in Dublin.

    Thanks folks!

The warranty more than likely won't accidental cover screen damage (even if it was within the year). Screens can be fairly pricy but might still be cheaper than a new laptop.

    It is what it's.

Replacement panel probably costs around €100 (check ebay etc). Doesnt take long to fit, so if you know someone who builds or repairs computers they might be able to order the right panel for you and the labour costs shouldn't be too much.

Take it to a 'repair place' and they'll probably try to bamboozle you and rip you off on the parts and labour costs.
believe I need to bin it
I certainly wouldn't bin it - I know a lot of people who break their screens end up just removing the screen section entirely and plugging the laptop into an external monitor. So its at least still useable in that capacity.
