Been looking at a pair of shamals on adverts, asking 340. I'm currently on ventos and now these come along with a similar spoke pattern (which i love) and they're GOLD! I know they're tubs and this is pretty much the only reason i haven't jumped on them yet. As wheels go how would people rate them.
    Thanks

They are a very fine wheel. I am not a big fan of their looks, but they are lighter than most aluminium wheels, very stiff and carried a certain A1 rider I know to a couple of victories last year (he'd be the heavy powerful type that would usually destroy a set of wheels in weeks). If you like how they look and they are in good condition you will struggle to do better. Especially at that price. Of course if they weren't gold, they would be gone by now because I would have bought them.

You do know these ones are tubs rather than clinchers however ?

They would look OK here, were it not for the nasty gold plumbing and seatpost clamp.

Don't you have a black Trek they would work on? (memory fails me)

Apart from the white bar tape and saddle they look kind of similar... maybe

Yeah i noticed they were tubs, but i just can't get them out my head, and i think the gold appeals to the attention seeker in me

The Shamals are great wheels, light but built like a brick sh!thouse, stiff as hell but ... GOLD !!??

I have the two way fit ( titanium ) and run tubeless, love them to bits. TubULARS though are a whole different ball game in terms of cost & fitting.

I'd be more inclined to pick up a discounted 2009 set ( two way fit ) or a set of Euros ( same rim different hub & spokes ).

I wouldn't get tubulars for general riding. Race only and even then I'm scared of puncturing.
