The DNS / Proxy trick for bypassing 3.21 firmwate has been patched.

Was working fine for me up until last night, can't sign in now. Still on 3.15, will be holding out for a bit.

Same here. Still on 3.15 too. I've been checking all the regular haunts for an update on this, but nothing yet.

Saw this mentioned on some ps3 websites...looks like the cat and mouse game has started :pac:

Sony are blocking you from using custom firmware. Cat and mouse is easy since it's just a DNS trick to get into PSN, so everytime GeoHotz wants to change it he has to do a firmware update. Sony can look at the update and change settings on their end, disrupting you but not their legitimate customers.

    The gigs up, folks.

Custom firmware? Sorry chief, I'm using original Sony Firmware, 3.15 last time I checked.

Well this was your option, upgrade or don't have PSN access.
Otherwise take it to court !!

I'll buy a slim if I want immediate PSN access, that's MY other option.

I guess it depends on what Sony will do when they find CFW connecting to the PSN. To date they don't ban people for using the proxy, or using the PSP remote play (with PSP CFW) - it just doesn't work unless you are up-to-date.

No harm in updating to 3.21 (apart from the loss of your linux partition)....even if geohot does release a CFW, it's never a good idea to use a first release of that stuff... always some nasty bugs in it (e.g. iPhone/PSP). Let it mature before you risk your PS3 on it. I'm sure if it does go ahead that CFW's will be out for future versions as well.
