What were you trying to achieve going into this?

    1. Flash is overpowered and aimed at his hand. Blown Highlights.

    2. Aimed at his chest level but overall a bit dark.

They're both a bit crooked as well but I think that's what you were going for?

I don't get these either. I wouldn't say they're not nice pics. The effect is not too bad on my eyes. They look like they've been worked on in PS or something. A lot of the traditional rules of lighting seem to have been broken with these. Was that the intention? A bit of text explaining your intentions when you posted these would have been nice. Save anyone from guessing.

    try....

put the camera into "P" .... one flash on the camera as master pointing towards "model" .... the other at models chest pointing upwards.... and press the shutter.

try playing around with flash positions .... two of them at same side.... two at front (left and right of camera ...45degrees from persons left and right) ..... flash from overhead/underneath ..... flash from behind (backlight)

it might take a while but also play around with flash power (1/8, 1/16, 1/64 etc)
