Was lucky enough to be able to fly the length of New Zealand's South Island in a Piper Archer II with a guy from the aeroclub who's hour building towards his CPL this weekend. Went down the west coast via an ex RNZAF grass airfield called Ashburton which had a lovely aviation musuem and good cups of tea!

The Aeroblub's Nanchang in the hanger-now registered as ZK-MAO :)

Can anyone name this old chap? Note the sextant for navigation training!

Aerobatic Yak-55 built by a local mechanic and apparently amazing fun to fly

Tracking the coast south. Farmers are still allowed burn off stuff here, no EU environmental rules :)

Tracking a river inland towards Alexandra and Queenstown

The type you wanted identified is a De Havilland Dove. The Irish Air Corps operated these from the 1950s to the mid-1970s also.
