Car bought from dealer (broken) Need big Advice

Hello. Two months ago i bought 01 Lexus IS 200 from a dealer which gave me 3 months or 3000 miles warranty for engine and gearbox only. After month and a half i notices "pulley" which is connected to crankshaft not moving perfectly in circle, i arranged my mechanic to take a look and after he did he noticed that pulley is "trash" and must be replaced same as crankshaft which is wornout on part where pulley should sit steadily. Now after 2 months and 2000 miles, im going to this dealer which is located in Kilcolgan, in Co Galway. Can you ladies and lads give me a idea how to speak with this lad (its small dealer located 2 miles on country roads) ? Any one had similar incident with a car on warraty from dealer ? Thanks

    Michael

Just tell him what the craic is. it's part of the engine, and needs replacing. it's not a wear&tear item

    without sounding smart...

You to dealer " car is abit fecked, look at the pulley and crankshaft, needs replacement under warranty... when can i pick it up???"

dont even open the topic up for discussion, with him...

Is it just a pulley carrying auxiliary belt? That shouldnt be a major issue to sort. I would think a new pulley would put it right. Did your mechanic remove the pulley to be able to say that crackshaft has worn down at the point when the pulley sits? Either way, its a warranty job for sure. The garage guy will be sick as in reality a 3 month engine & gearbox warranty covers f*ck all. It covers this though.

K ill try that if not ill get solicitor to sort it out :] What do you think guys am i susposed to say ? That my mechanic checked it or it just started to make noise etc ?

@Mickdw, yeah he took the pulley off(which pulls power steering, water pump, alternator belts) and told me that pulley is damaged and should go to trash asap and crankshaft is damaged too and is not repairable (end of crankshaft where pulley sits), so pulley now flies a little bit forward and backward and rotating is noisy and gives a lot of big vibrations to engine ...

I noticed some bother with engine. Mechanic took a look and informed it was pully and crankshaft basically knackered. It's covered under warrenty, here's the keys, what time will I pick it up at?

Simple as. He's not going to refuse as it's under warrenty and if he does then go to a solicitor.

@Yawns I will do that. Thank you

I will keep you informed on progress. I think he will try to lose me or avoid me ... What then ? Leave a car on their parking with keys at reception and a message on sheet ? xD I hope it wont come to that.

He took a car and told me he wil fix it under warranty but there is no chance to replace crankshaft because its too expensive and no one does that in ireland ... he said that he'll get new pulley and sort it out with crankshaft ... Even gave me 02 mondeo 2l tdi :P Thx for help.

You should try and get some form of commitment/guarrantee that the engine will be perfect after this - otherwise, you'll be the one forking out for a new engine in the future!

I'll bet that his word isn't worth anything in a years time (if he is even still in business)!
