    Hi Maybe someone can advise

I have applied for Invalidity Pension and was refused on the initial application.
I have since asked for the deciding officer to review this decision and provided further Consultants reports etc. This was nearly 4 weeks ago. Does anyone know how long this normally takes to have it reviewed.

    Many thanks

Not sure what you meant by review? If you appealed the decision as I did for a different benefit, dont hold your breath. The one office in D'Olier handles all S/W appeals and I was told, this time last year it would take on average 26 weeks. Which was spot on, 24 to be exact.

    thanks bog master

When you have an inital application refused you have two choices

1: you can either have it reviewed by the deciding officer who made the decision if you have further documentation etc or
    2: appeal it to Dublin

I decided to have it reviewed as i had further relevant documentation and was hoping this would be quicker than an appeal

But have still heard nothing after 4 weeks
So if anyone has gone through this process would be interested to hear how long it took

Yes, remember that bit now, perhaps the route I should have tried first!

    Maybe ring the local office?

    Best of luck anyway!

just to update my thread so it may benefit anyone else in the same situation

When you have an initial application for Invalidity Pension refused you have two choices

1: you can either have it reviewed by the deciding officer who made the decision if you have further documentation etc or
    2: appeal it to Dublin

I went with option 1 and appealed to the deciding officer and this was refused
I then appealed this decision to the SWAO in March 2010 and was granted an Oral hearing this was heard in August 2011 and the Appeal was granted

Hopefully this will give someone else an idea of timelines if they are in a similar situation.
