Irish Runner mag

Hi all, I'm kind of new to the running scene, but have been running on and off since last August, and have run 3 races to date.
At this stage I think I'm hooked, and another part of my addiction has revealed itself to me in the guise of the above mag - I got my first issue, the Feb/Mar issue and loved it.
When is the next issue out - have checked some of the local newsagents and no sign - can anybody enlighten me?

I believe its out on Thursday.
    You'll get it in Easons
Might be an idea to become a subscriber - then it gets posted to you....
(Frank G. - you owe me one...) ;)

Its a frustrating mag, you never know when its out and if you subscribe it can take an age to get to you and when your in easons and you see that its out and your wondering where the hell is my copy, its been like that for ages and its why I no longer buy it.

Is there any other Irish based running magazine out there?

Think the IR is the only irish based running mag. You can also get the UK based Runners World and Running and Fitness, US based Running Times in Easons.

I'm with Woddle on this one. My wife got me a subscription for Christmas, i had to ring them two or three times to see where it was. Finally got Februarys addition at the end of March. They did send me a free Irish runner t shirt and a copy of "Running Commentary" by Frank Greally. Wont hold my breath for this addition to arrive on time.

It's the same with my subscription, but I still (try to) get it, because I think it serves a purpose and we'd be at (at least a small bit of) a loss if it were gone. as for the Irish Runner website......................

It really is taking the piss though, when you see the mag in the newsagents and you wait...and wait...and wait....for your subscription copy to arrive...and sometimes you're surprised when it really does arrive. But I've never got it before I've seen it in the shops.

If you're a subscriber and are having issues getting your copy, please post here - it's our only way of gauging how bad the subscription problem is.

Was, a couple of years ago, but the same problems as above so let the subscription go. Just pick it up when I see it in the shops. But its the same as Runners World subscription you get it about 2-3 weeks after its in the shops. There was a time that subscribers would get the product before anyone else, not anymore it seems.

I was actually considering subscription, but after hearing this I certainly won't. I wonder if Frank Greally is reading this - not great publicity for his publication.
But having said that, I got a lot out of my 1st experience of it - the Feb/Mar issue - discovered this George Sheehan guy. It's difficult to get a copy of his book though.

Can anybody recommend any other decent books/authors on running.

Anyway, I might get my local newsagent to keep 1 for me every couple of months - probably a more guaranteed method of getting 1.

Thanks for all of the replies - it's good to be 'put in the picture'

Can anybody recommend any other decent books/authors on running.

'The Runner's Handbook' Bob Glover. Very good book for anyone starting off.

'The Competitive Runner's Handbook' Bob Glover. More advanced version of the above.

'Daniels Running Formula' Jack Daniels. Detailed programs and theory behind then. From 800 - Marathon.

You should be able to pick the above in eason's or alot cheaper on amazon. I got Daniels book for nearly half the price on amazon compared to eason's.

Great prices there. 'Advanced Marathoning' for €10.16. Thats the book a lot of people here have used very successfully.

Amazon do free delivery now if you buy directly from them instead of one of the other 'shops' on Amazon.
