Obviously, there are endless sites selling fake clubs, but can anyone recommend a genuine site that is reasonably priced and well stocked, thats either irish, or delivers to Ireland without too many problems. I'm gonna be changing everything in the bag over the next couple of months, and starting my research now!

I have used http://www.onlinegolf.co.uk/ 3 times in the past year. Very well stocked, great offers and cheap and fast delivery.

Only issue I had with them was on one order I had ordered 3 items and they didn't have the bag I ordered in stock due to a "stocktake error". Because of this they didn't ship the rest of my order either and also didn't inform me of this problem. I had to email them a few days later to check on the status of my order and after mails back and forwards they apologised, asked me to choose a different bag of equal or higher value and gave me 10 euro in loyalty points for my troubles. The bag I chose was 30 euro more expensive too so I was happy enough in the end!

Friends have also used this site and never had any problems. Gear usually arrives within 3-4 days by courier.

I also bought an oddysey putter from http://www.thegolfshoponline.co.uk/ about a year ago. Was 60 euro cheaper than any golf shops in Ireland and again was with me by courier in about 3 days.

Both definitely legitimate shops and both recommended, although onlinegolf is best value.

I found www.direct-golf.co.uk to be as reliable as any. Think it's £10 delivery to Ireland irrespective of what you buy. 2-5 day courier delivery.

escgolf is a very good ebay golf store. http://stores.shop.ebay.ie/E-S-C-Golf__W0QQ_armrsZ1

    www.golfbidder.co.uk is also very good.

I've used both and was very happy with them.

Hi Doc. I just checked the site and they don't seem to stock any Ping clubs.

    Any idea why?

Howya Atlantic, sorry I don't have a definitive answer on that one for you. I know that some of the major OEM's can be a bit quirky regarding their licensed dealers, they don't like their stuff selling for less than the RRP that online stores can offer. I know that TaylorMade insisted that the price of their new lines weren't displayed on the main catalogue of items, but you had to click into the item to view the price

There is a site (I'll check and edit) emm .. discountgolf.co.uk or similiar to that that DOES Pings, one of my guys picked up a set from them, reliable and again the delivery was cheap enough 10 -15 pounds... Cheers

    *edit* .. www.discountgolfstore.co.uk

Agreed Atlantic with Golfbidder, if you're after 2nd hand clubs it's a great place. Reason being is that they have a very good anti-counterfeit detection system, borne from the fact that they were gettin pretty heavily stung with fakes.

www.golfonline.co.uk is the site i have used and found it A1. in saying that i bought an electric trolly and bag and balls of it . never any clubs as i would prefer to be able to hits clubs on a range before buying them. if you are planning on changing everything i would say go to a pro and discuss things with him. that what i did i changed all the clubs in the bag, through the pro and i never looked back

Thanks, Doc. I love Pings and have a lot of Ping clubs....probably enough to last at least one lifetime! For me, no clubs come close.

I just posted the comment because I always go the Ping link when I go onto a golfsite.

And you're right about Golfbidder's clubs. Top class and very efficient.

Yea for some reason known only to themselves Ping's clubs aren't available on all sites online, however I was looking for Pings last year and found this site http://www.golfbuyitonline.com/Ping.php .While I've never actually bought anything from them, they look reputable.

www.rockbottomgolf.com is very cheap and delivery is less than a week from usa. looks like a dodgy site but have used it loads and find it the best value anywhere online

Does it still work out cheap after customs? Genuine question, have always thought that although they are initially cheaper but with customs it ends up costing the same?

Ive used this place a couple of times for PING stuff and found them quick, cheap and reliable.

<mod edit> just so you know Titleist don't allow their gear to be sold online because of all the counterfeiting and pricing etc... Which imply's that the site is not 100% by the book anyway. Clubs might be grand but just letting you know.

Whats the going rate for a Vokey in store ..? Cost from that site is 100e.

That Titleist policy has been challenged in the courts by a group of UK internet retailers. The latest court ruling allowed them to sell Titleist again........for now. Acushnet have not conceded defeat on the case.

just wondering if you bought from golf247.co.uk?

I see the titleist stadry bag for 108 sterling with a discount coupon

I've bought a few things off them and they are 100% legit, good prices.
In particular I purchased a utility wedge for my already custom fitted set of Ping G20's and they asked for the serial number off an existing club in my set and my club arrived to spec. so I'd take that as a legit source.
They often have 10% off weekends so keep your eye open, I haggled a few times with them and got modest price reductions or a glove of two for free, sound to talk to also.

    No mention of http://www.golfstoreeurope.com/

Thats as cheap and Irish as you can get for online stores.

Used a few times and no problems

I see now that ZF mentioned it on the previous page :)

    And www.eugolfstore.com is very recent.

Guys are in Wicklow - a combination of three Pros setting up an online store.

Is there actually big savings to be got online at all? By the time you add delivery etc? Compare it with the usual discount you'll get from any store or pro shop.

Quick example but iv checked loads of times on different things too...

I see R11's up there on Halfpenny for 550. You're gonna get them for 500 at the very worst. Probably a dozen TM balls thrown in too. I put the exact same spec into that eurogolfstore and they are 499 sterling. Onlinegolfstore they are 429 sterling plus delivery to Ireland. Also just noticed my exact irons i bought in American golf last Christmas for the the sterling price i paid in euro!!

The only time i genuinely feel there is a proper saving to be made is when one of the American retailers that deliver to Ireland have their sales. You need to make sure they deliver via US Mail to have a chance of avoiding the duty. UPS or DHL will 100% nab you. An post you've a great chance of dodging it. I saved 50% on a putter and wedge last year on black friday. Iv seen nothing like it since.

Oh by the way http://www.sportsdirect.com/ do have some great sales on clothing if anyone is interested.

I think it can depend on what you are looking for. Online stores often have clearance items with great prices which the local pro won't be able to compete with. It's always worth giving the pro a chance to match a deal or price though.

On the R11 irons, eugolfstore.com r11 are not in GBP, they are in euro. €499 inc delivery. OnlineGolf.co.uk offer free delivery to Ireland at that spend too but the 429GBP works out dearer than €499.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 519 ✭✭✭Alrite Chief

Absolutely. Its the clearance items you will score on. Often difficult to get decent clearance stuff from a retailer but the bulk stock online normally has something for you. Like sports direct in the uk. Buy clearance stuff can often lead to impulse buying as opposed to exactly what you want.

I've used OnlineGolf numerous times and cant fault them! The free P&P and the discounts for repeat business are big winners.

Wasn't aware GolfStoreEurope were Irish though, must have a look at their site for the next purchase.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 144 ✭✭Finlay Harp

Would buy a fair bit online, but I suppose being in the North the exchange rate does not affect me. What pisses me off about a lot of retailers is the P&P. Charging up to £20 extra to ship to Northern Ireland using Royal Mail......the same postal service we get! Will check those guys in Derry out now.

that bag arrived yesterday from golf247.co.uk

€149 delivered for a Titleist stadry bag. I probably could get it for €180, maybe €170, but I have it now, no bartering or picking up required!

Lads in eugolfstore are dead on answer emails very quickly and willing to help. In the middle of pricing stuff now with the titleist d3 913 but custom shaft but will have it priced tomorrow. I emailed them at 8pm this evening and got a reply half an hour later.

edit: digging up an old thread but just some credit to the guys
