Just reading the independent today (I have a subscription) and it says emmigration of our youth is good for the economy. i fully agree. We need to live within our means. We can't afford to be paying the dole for all these young wans to sit on their arses. If they go abroad to Canada or Australia they can get new skills and come back in 2016 when everything will be recovered. We are a small nation and can't be expected to provide millions of jobs. I don't want to see these youngsters go but we are a small open economy and since the collapse of Lehman Brothers we were always going to find it difficult.

Wouldn't forced sterilisation be a more cost effective option? eradicate the problem at source..

    LOL

I don't see emigration as a good thing although it will take pressure off our SW system in the short term. This may seem very cruel, but perhaps if some of the many unemployed construction workers left it may not be such a bad thing. There are no jobs for them and there won't be jobs in the future, so their options are to upskill, leave for a place where there is work or simply sit on the dole unfortunately.

My uncle has an auctioneering business so he can get me a job. It's the unemployed who should be emmigrating.

I can think of a certain 25% of the population who's emmigration would do the rest of us the world of good...

thats one of the most selfish things i have ever read! why should people be forced to leave their friends and families to make your life a little easier....?

I'm just saying I agree with the article in the indo.

Ireland is a small island and there isn't enough work for us all. Study history and you'll see alot of our problems have been solved by emmigration. The youth who emmigrate might even send back some money which would be good for business owners.

well if so, why dont you head off to Austrailia or the USA and leave your loved ones at home?

why should someone else have to?

Did your subscription to the Independent not also inform you that it's EMIGRATION?

Seriously, I'd demand my money back.

This thread appears to have become an opportunity to have a go at the OP, which isn't really an acceptable use of the facilities provided.
