    Hi,

    I am combining 2no aeraials(1no wideband UHF and 1no UHF group C/D).

The wideband is existing and I am now installing the Group C/D to improve TV3 reception. existing wideband has a masthead amplifier on it.

My question is can I combine the 2no aerials and then feed this feed into the amp, and does this mean that the diplexer doesn't need to allow power pass.

Wideband aerial channels I need are from 21 to 35 and TV3 is 66.

    Thanks

    Any other suggestions welcome

Are both aerials pointing at the same transmitter?

    Suggestions
Change the wideband for a Group A.
Use a masthead amp on the TV3 aerial.
Use a diplexor ch21-37/ch 38-ch68 to combine the two outputs.

If you have a weak TV3, that is the one that needs the amp.

Aerials will be pointing at different transmitters. I want to get TV3 from a seperate transmitter, the reason that it is weak now is because the 1no existing aerial is not pointed directly at the transmitter I want to get TV3 from.

I don't want to change the existing aerial as it is picking up RTE1 & RTE2 as well as BBC1 & 2, UTV and channel 4 and TG4 perfectly.

That's why I posed the original question about the addition of the group C/D.

Then you should get a C/D aerial and point it for TV3, amplify it, and use a UHF diplxor split at ch37 as suggested. Both amps will need dc pass through.

    That should meet your needs.

So I can't put up the C/D aerial, align it correctly, combine with the other aerial and the amplify both together??????

No need to replace the wideband amplifier

    21-35 is Group A

So a A/E or A/CD diplexer should do the trick

    Yes

You can also combine before or after the amp.

Most diplexers have "DC passthrough" facility to allow for this
