Why do you describe it as 'underrated' ?

I remember it as being highly rated when it was screened.

It was very highly rated... where are you getting underrated from?

And there were 3 seasons of it by the way...

I lived on Bachelor's Walk at the time that was made and they were a bit of a pain in the hole when they'd be filming....even though they flat they used wasn't actually on Bachelor's Walk...when they'd be doing outside shoots, you couldn't walk down your own street for ages at a time. They'd block the whole place off as if they were some authority over something....I mean even when I'd be staggering home ar 3am on a Sunday morning, they'd be out!

Never really watched the show itself much though!

1st season was very good. Should have left it be.

Aside from Don Wycherley, yeah it was great.

Superb series, one of RTE's highlights. To say it was underrated is wrong.

I'd agree with this. Managed to keep a lot of fans depsite losing most of its charm in subsequent seasons.

Personally, I think Scannal is entertaining when I catch it.

Yep, I loved it too. Remember waiting eagerly every week for it to be shown.
Agree that the second series wasn't that great. It picked up a bit again for the third, but the first was the best.

Good cast, good storylines, good soundtrack, good characters. RTE haven't managed to equal it since IMO.

It was one of the only decent shows on RTE, apart from Don Wycherleys insistance on a twang of an American accent for some reason.
It was hyped to hell, but decent.....then followed the Big Bow Wow and the optimism left me :(

The first series was very good, kind of good timing aswell. The others were nowhere near as good.

was the Big bow wow the show as it was getting bad reviews it went from a half hour show to a hour show so they could end it quickly?

when they start adding in more characters thats when it start getting very silly cause the charm of the 1st season was the three guys

It was a brilliant show, and still had one of the funniest moments in Irish telelvision history in it:
Simon Delaney's character is at a ceremony/conference for solicitors and barristers and he gets very drunk and upset as he views himself as a failure. He goes to the toilets and starts stumbling around the hotel. The scene then cuts to a plush lecture on the environment, with the lecturer asking: "What is the main reason for the increase in honey production along the Shannon Delta?".... To which a drunk Delaney who has stumbled into the lecture roars out: "Issss the fuuuckin bees, ishnt it?! Whasss innit for de bees, whadda they get outta it?"
He then throws his empty glass at the lecturer.

    Classic

The best bit has to be when Barry was entertaining in his mobile home. Raymond had made him a salmon mousse and Barry served it as a dessert.
    Classic!

    Is it on DVD?

Only the first series was released on DVD, and to be honest you`d be lucky if you found it anywhere now. I was searching for the complete set of series for months , I managed to get them all eventually, through "means" ;)

The reunion episode in 2006 came and went without too much fuss. it was a decent programme, ran out of steam before it finished.

My favourite part in the show was where at a party, Simon Delaney's character sang the song 'Who wants to be a millionaire" which has the line "Who wants to be a Millionaire, I don't".

It was an in-joke, as he had appeared on the RTE version of 'Who wants to be a millionaire" in real life shortly before the series was made. He got the IR£32,000 question wrong and only collected IR£1,000 - one of the least successful contestants ever on the show.

my favourite moment wasn't a funny one but the three guys all heartbroken listening to a Tom waits song and not saying a word that was the end of season 1. The reason i taught it ran out of steam simply was they kept on adding very uninteresting new characters who were very unloveable and really the reason the show was liked was because it featured only a few characters and the storylines were funny ut heartfelt somehow they lost it in season 2.
