'I'm only human'

This seems to be the standard excuse these days for people cheating - 'I'm only human and I make mistakes' etc etc. Is it just me or is this insulting to the rest of humanity?? As far as I'm concerned, a mistake is doing something accidentally that you didn't mean to do (eg a typo, crashing a car etc.)

A couple of my friends have used this excuse with me when I've given out to them for cheating on their other halves. Am I the only person who finds this annoying? They deliberately went out and slept with someone else, it's not they accidentally fell and landed on some guy's penis.

I just find the whole 'I'm only human' excuse insulting to the rest of us who don't cheat. I'm human too and have never cheated and would never cheat! And many many other humans manage not to cheat either.

And before anyone says anything, I'm not bitter cos someone cheated on me (I've actually never been cheated on that I know of) but it just irratates the hell out of me when other people use this excuse!!

The guys in question never found out but they ended up breaking up anyway shortly after. It was the excuse they used with me when they told me about it!

If you cheat you deserve not to get the same respect back from your other half, wheel will always turn they say.

only human as in you've had a few drinks and wouldn't mind getting the exciting feeling you get when you sleep with someone new after months or years of mundane boring sex with your other half, if you're having any at all. To be honest I wouldn't be able to hold it against anyone, as I know where they're coming from, but doesn't mean I'd still want to go out with them. I just don't think it makes you a bad person. We're only human afterall.

In fairness, these men wouldn't have got half the amount of women if they weren't rich and famous. Tiger's not much to look at...

There is such a thing as sex addiction, but as yourself and IBC rightly pointed out - the term is regularly abused in an attempt to cover the asses of cheating celebs.
