Since the start of the year it has been taking me 6 or 8 holes to get things going. Yesterday I played our medal and was 10 over through 8 holes, But finished my round at 10 over. I just feel like i forget how to swing. Has this happened to anyone and does anyone know how I can fix it.

    Thanks for reading

sounds to me like you don't warm up before hand, Get to a range and hit some balls, do a bit of stretching, stay loose. I take it you playing off 13 after the Monthly medal.

Im a bit like that too, can spend 4-6 holes working out my swing, figuring out why my drives are fading to the left, or not getting the lift required. Then i get my game into shape, i know its because i dont always get to fire off 20 or more balls in a range before hand, so im trying to work out the flaws at the start of each round. I need to make that change in approach, but dont always get the opportunity playing society golf on new courses, my other main flaw is that im not a member anywhere, so im adjusting to new courses and greens each outing :P

anyway, i think you are the same as i, get to the range and work out your swing before hand

Op you play off 14 and shoot 4 better than you handicap and your not too happy about how put the score together?
Seriously though it's standard for mid to high handicappers to feel like they have a different swing from one week to the next( probably because they have), but if your serious about improving then you could get lessons or practice more during the week.

It's a very common thing to happen and in my opinion all psycological.

What happens basically is this. You go to the first tee. It's the monthly medal. You're thinking " I need to do well here to get a pick for the purcell/bruin, shave that shot off my handicap or win that lovely bedside lamp" You are tense and nervous and not in the right place mentally to play golf. What happens? You start badly. You then think I need a birdie to get me back on track. You chase the game and more bad shots occur. You then hit the back 9 playing 5 shots worse than handicap and you think "well that's that gone may as well sit back and enjoy the round". Now what happens? You relax and your golf starts to flow.

Like Dr. Bob says, a player is more likely to hole a putt if he doesn't care if he misses.
