Looked for RTE 1 on Mt. Leinster today, and there it was gone. I am still getting Analogue from there, so I presume that it is not just me

I hope this is just temporary - I'm not sure I could wait until October

Yes it's off air today on all 4 repeat muxes thank heavens so we have a full suite of over a 100 presely freeview channels in it's place instead of the 30 or so when mt leinster was blocking the bulk of them.
Perfect signal strength and 100% quality on Dave and sky news etc

Maybe the coins ran out at the meter for the digital tx as it was the only one in the country radiating all four muxes for so long? which was using 4 times the power of any of the others!

Hopefully they will come back on ch39 only and not bother with the other 3 [wasted in much of wicklow and wexford! as the bulk of people there have presely combined and don't receive mt leinster on 42,45, or 49 as a result]

    I somehow doubt that though.

It will be back as Kippure ch 61 is still on air so it must be a mt leinster specefic temporary shut down.

    :p

Don't worry RTENL will soon wipe the smile off my face..when they switch it back on on 42 or 45 or 49 or all 3.
39 lads is the one to use-best signal too, signals travel further and better round ch's 37 to 40 :) on group B
Can you not record on analogue?

Could it be a strategic decision to minimise the number of complaints from across the water?

Never bothered installing the Analogue card in the PC - No I have no idea where it is - Will record it in work instead from NTL.

This really irritates me. I can only see it as a jamming attempt.

Using your internationally allocated and coordinated frequencies cannot be regarded as jamming. Most likely the transmissions are being used for coordination with the UK transmitters in cooperation with Arqiva.

I doubt arquiva does much testing at night/evening.
The only possible explanation is the need for rtenl to check where infill tx's are needed..
And if they are doing that outside 9-5,I'm a giraffe.

Jamming is certainly a plausible explanation for why mt leinster is the only tx with 4 muxes lit up almost non stop, when just one is needed wasting 100's of 1000's of watts of expensive power at the licence payers expense every day.

It is a gross example of more and more money that could and should be invested in programming being thrown down the drain at an alarming rate on what looks like an egotistical RTE nova esque jamming crusade.
It's easy to spend other peoples money when theres no controls.
6 months of this multi mux south east only jamming now...
