My family have a resteraunt and its not doing to well becuase of the recession so I am claiming the dole! My mum runs the resteraunt and I cook the food in the back even though im not meant to be working. The resteraunt can really only afford to pay my mum every week and some weeks she does not get paid either. Am i going to get into trouble if im cuaght helping out? Im there for 6 hours every evening! We are hoping that once things get better i can go back to working full time however if i stop helping out now the business will go down the tube.

There's a forum on state benifits which would suit you better. But if you're not getting a wage from the restaurant then I think you're ok but I wouldn't take my word for anything. I post in After Hours therefore I have an opinion on everything I know nothing about.

Edit: Also if you work in a restaurant and can't spell restaurant then perhaps the suggestion above of back to education is a valid one.

I find it difficult to believe that you are not benefiting from this work. As you are working in a kitchen and not looking for work then it is fraud IMO.

Secondly I'm sure that Revenue would be very interested in your mothers ability to get the SW to pay her staff not to mention that you would not be insured to work there.

I advise you and your family to rethink this plan.

Umm... I think he was taking the piss out of the OP's spelling.
Hence the "back to education" part.
