    Hi All,

This website seems a pretty good place to ask this kind of question.

I am originally from the UK but currently live in Clare.

I want to take my full bike license, but the Irish version doesent allow me to travel back to the UK or the rest of Europe.

I have been thinking of driving to the North and taking one of these intensive courses, at the end of the course, I will have a full UK Bike License.

Can anyone reccomend a good instruction centre where I can take one of those courses. Preferably close to the border ??

Surely you have to have an address in the UK to take your test there?

I still have a UK address at my Parents. All my UK correspondance such as bank statements go there.

Regarding "Direct Access" courses. I am not that fussed about this.
If I take a normal test to get a "Cat A" Bike License. I will be restricted for two years, then I can drive any bike.

And if you do your test in the Republic - once you have passed you A1 test, it is the same.

You pass the theory test - this allows you to ride in the country it is issued ONLY.
Six months after passing the theory test, you can do the 'driving' test - once you pass that (and get your licence), you are resticted for two years, but can ride in any country in Europe.
