As a bet, I'm going to have to say goodbye to the laptop for a week :( That means no boards, youtube, no games and no fappage. At 5pm, it begins. I'm absolutely dreading this. But hey, the good weathers here, the ladies are looking well and I'm going to use the time to hit the gym more and fit in a couple of rounds of golf. Still gonna be one long week. See you all next week!

    So. Could you do it?

Be careful with that as I've heard it can be quite addictive.

    Sure I could.

I could go a week without food too. I just don't see the point or think it'd be of benefit to me.

Apart from weekends I usually just use my laptop for college work,
so I would think that I would have no problem going without it for a week.

There are other things in the world apart from computers you know.

They don't play golf at the Gym, it must be a very long time since you've done anything remotely sporty if you don't know that.

i could if i was away from home, either on holidays or just visiting the parents or someone

but if it was a normal week, where i was working and back in my own home every evening, i'd find it very hard to do

I call that week 'holidays'. :)

I have gone a week without the internet when I was on holidays, or skiing or such like. But I prolly couldn't do it for a week in normal everyday life.

    Yes.
Probably couldn't go without my phone for a week though, I'd feel really disconnected from the world. Which is kind of depressing.

yes....wouldnt enjoy it though cos i live in the middle of nowhere

Yep. I do it quite a lot. No broadband where i live-ended up just leaving the laptop in my mother's house.

Couldn't go without my phone for even an hour though, have got awful addicted to it lately

When my computer got a virus last year I didn't have it for nearly two months. They were probably the most productive two months of my life. I went down to the gym every night, started socialising more, had my work and house in order.

Then the computer was fixed and I stopped doing all of those things. Dammit.

    Without my computer? Yes, easily.

Not using my computer if it was there with me? Not a chance.

OP I wish ye good luck with that!:)

Personally I wouldn't be able to do it...do all my college work on this laptop and would be lost without it, having to spend money and many hours in internet shops:(

I could, I suppose. But I'd have to print off all my lecture notes a week in advance and wouldn't know if my timetable got changed. I'd also have to get people in work to text me and let me know when I've been rostered for. It'd be a load of hassle really.

I wish something would dismantle the computer network of the world for a week or two and the mobile one too!

Im starting to get headaches from so much screen time!:o

    Golf > Laptop

That said, a week without one (and without any other distractions like work, drink or women) would be tough.

I'd say so. Also phones are so high-tech these days that it's nearly like having a mini-comp in your pocket. They should be included as well or it's just a cop-out.

I've been using the computer way too much lately because I've been bored.

I could get so much done every day if I didn't use this so much.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 804 ✭✭✭yerayeah

I've all my lecture notes and a load of books on my laptop so I rely on it heavily for college, so I couldn't go without it while I'm at college. That said I use it a lot more wasting time on facebook and sporcle and other such distractions! I'd probably last for a week or so if I was on holidays or something but I'd still want to check the news and my facebook and so on...

I feel lost without my laptop for one day. I can't even imagine what it'd be like without it for one week!
Suppose there's always good aul TV. Haven't seen that in a while.
