Is Gay ok?

Is being gay in this country "ok"? Me, myself, I like to think I am tolerant but I don't like gay people or immigrants - I tolerate them. For example I would not want gay people near my children or me in a way that is interfering. Equally I don't want immigrants next door because I think my house would be devalued. But I tolerate them as long as it does not affect me. I think most Irish people feel the same. Double edged so to speak. For example in Dublin Southsiders are most liberal - i.e let the immigrants in, sure God help them. However where are African immigrants in particular most likely to end up? Not in D4 or Foxrock or Dalkey. They will end up in Blanchardstown, Tallaght or Clondalkin. It's just I get the impression that if they ended up in Foxrock or Dalkey suddenly the morally rightous amongst us would not be so accomodating. Same with Gays and other minorities. These people talk the talk and make the rest of us feel bad but put a Gay or Immigrant next door to them and the tune will change fast. They are for it because they are not affected...yet. But one day it will affect them and I think that is were the hypocrisy falls down.

    What do you think?

Perhaps your kids would be safer living next door to a parochial house?

It's funny how this >personal abuse removed< thinks that gay people = child molesters or something.

How exactly would a gay person effect or treat your child differently than a hetrosexual?

Hmm... I guess I tolerate gays. Tbh, I dont think I'll ever say Im going to be ok with it. Thats just me. What goes on behind closed doors is absolutely nothing to do with me, I just feel a little sick when I see 2 guys kissing or whatnot. Thats how I feel.

    /awaits backlash.

I think most Irish people secretly don't like gays. I think that is a fair and accurate comment.

I don't mind as long as they don't try shank me up the arse.

I've no problem with gay people, live and let live.

Well as a bisexual man, I can tell you that 100% of the people I care about have no problem with my sexuality.
I've never had an issue with homophobia. Ever.

Im not saying Irish people are openly homophobic. I am saying most tolerate rather then like the idea - i.e they don't like gays, they tolerate. Again I think that is a fair reflection.

I don't think so because what I am saying is accurate. If you are trying to say most Irish people "like" as opposed to "tolerate" gay men in particular then you are deluded. Lesbians are probrably loked on slightly more favourably.

Threads and people like this really get on my nerves.

I mean... "gay people". You'd swear we are all the same or something. It's like somebody saying "I can't stand straight people" - it doesn't make sense.

Nice to know that despite your issues, you can be tolerant once we don't go near your children (wtf?) - cheers for letting us off on our gayness.

Personally, I like pretty much anybody until they give me reason not to, regardless of sexuality, race, background or anything else. I'm guessing you use terms like "gay people" and have stereotypes in your head is a result of you never actually known a gay person or something. Little worlds create little minds.

Why would your house be devalued? Surely the current recession might have something to do with the fact that your house price has fallen?

I think you are racist, baiting and trolling.

You title your thread as "Is Gay ok?"

Then you bring African Immigrants into it?

Go away, AHs users will see what I see and this thread will descend into FAIL.

Do you dislike them twice as much as you do straight immigrants or irish born homosexuals?
    Just wondering.
Anyway, you're entitled to your opinion , is my contribution to this.

I've worked long an hard, and come up with this conclusion.

He is in fact, a gay immigrant real estate agent trying to sell his neighbours house but is worried that he's devaluing it, thus losing out on commission.

    You're a horrible person.

I would think you are the type of person who makes racist remarks about people to your friends.

Some of the nicest people I have met in this country have been immigrants.
I generally find that immigrants are nicer than Irish people as the majority of Irish people have become complete assholes since the celtic tiger.

As for you having issues with gays, what a bloody bigot.
I bet you don't even know any gay people....

What the hell is wrong with you?

Thread closed and OP banned for Racism and don't even get me started on the Gay comment, as well as starting a thread to troll and bait others here.

AH posters are better than that OP.
