Laser usage in flightpath area

Was just out in the backyard there and I noticed a laser show that appears to be coming from a niteclub. Every 30seconds or so several beams flash across the sky. I was just wondering is this potentially dangerous/illegal as the area is a busy flightpath for Shannon Airport.

If they hit the planes then yeah, potential to be dangerous/distracting. I got hit by one a couple of weeks back from some twat in his back yard with a green handheld one and I was not a happy camper. Reported it to the police here instantly.

I'd say the airport would be aware of it straight away if it affected anyone, and one would hope that the nightclub rang and asked/notified. If in doubt ring/ask someone? Shannon airport neighbourhood watch job ;)

Shannon Airport is very quiet these days, perhaps they had sought and gained approval for the light show based on there being no scheduled flights at that time.

How far from Shannon are you talking?

Is it the Trinity Rooms one again? or somewhere else

I would be near Gallows Hill and I reckon the light show was in the direction of newport but I could be wrong. I see a lot of planes flying in the direction having taken off from Shannon. The lasers were six beams spread out across the sky in a fan like fashion. Very noticeable and I'd imagine quite distracting.

they arent lazers, simply lights. they are on every night the club is open.

Lasers or lights I'd still say they are distracting to pilots in the area. Maybe not?
