Does their carry-on baggage check include backpacks? I'm looking to use their wonderful services in a month and I'm just going to be bringing a backpack. Will I still have to pay the 15 eu?

If your carrying on over your shoulder and it will fit in the locker above your plane seat head, you should be fine.

Afaik you can just bring one carry-on item, be it a bag/backpack or similar. It has to fit within the little cage at the airport.

Check their website for the dimensions of carry-on, if it's small enough it's allowed...

    http://www.ryanair.com/en/questions/cabin-baggage-allowance

It should weigh no more than 10kg and not exceed the maximum dimensions of 55cm x 40cm x 20cm

No you wont. If its a small rucksack/laptop bag then its free. If its one of those camping rucksacks then you will have to check it in before you board. Also they can get you if you try and bring on a small bag and a laptop bag. Sometimes they just let you on but i've been forced to pay for a second bag.

Cabin baggage is free. I'll take that to mean backpacks. Reading the FAQs FTW.

    Thanks. :)

Of course backpacks are allowed. I do not even have a small suitcase like most people bring on board - I always bring my backpack. It just has to be small enough to fit the carry-on size restrictions.

A backpack actually has advantages: A small suitcase will often weigh 2-3kg by itself; a backpack is typically much lighter. If you are on a day trip, a backpack will also be a lot more handy than a suitcase.

They now allow you to check in a 20kg bag if you wish but it's an extra tenner each way for the privilege.
