This is probably a stupid question but I've always wondered about it but never got to see it happen but...

what happens if another players golf ball hits your ball..

Player A chips onto the green say and then Player B takes his shot and chips onto green and Player B's ball hits Player A's ball...

is that just part of the shot like or does anything happen...

and if in the extreme situation of Player B's ball striking ball A and a la snooker or pool knocked it into the hole would it count as a chip in birdie or eagle or whatever as the case may be....

Not a stupid question. The ball which was stationary gets replaced where it was, the ball which was moving stays as is, whereever it is (including in the hole).

what wud happen if , Player A drives off and ball is in the middle of the Fairway , Player B drives off and hits player A ball ? is it right in thinking its just play it as it is ?

no. Same as before. Replace the stationary ball as near as possible to where it originaly lay. This may be hard to do when you don't really know exactly where the first ball lay but you must at least attempt it.

and where do you put Player B's ball in the event of the ball bouncing on top of Player A's ball..

as you know a golf ball will bounce really hard on a hard surface compared to grass.. where do you drop Ball B in this event..

You never touch Player B's ball - it stays where it lands, no matter what it hits.

But if both balls are on the green and one hits the other, there is a penalty for one of the players, isn't there? Which one?

The player who plays the shot.

Penalty only applies if both balls were on the green before the shot was played. If Player A is off the green (his ball is off the green) when he plays the shot, there is no penalty if he hits Player B's ball, on the green.
