Connacht Ticket Prices

    Hi All,

Going to my first Connacht Rugby match tommorrow and judging by the ticket prices it could be my last.

It's 20 euro for a student ticket (25 for adult) which seems very expensive. Surely as a team at the bottom of the ML and crying out for supporters to attend games they should be looking at the ticket prices to get people through the gate.

20 euro every second week is something that would put me off going to games (not to mention Friday matches which I have no hope of attending).

Do people agree that these ticket prices are too expensive or should I just stop moaning and pay up.

This would seriously put me off going to future matches.

prices have increased for this match.

normally 15 for a student. 20 for an adult.
if they get 3-4000 at this match that extra 5 will be alot of money for connacht. it could backfire and people might just watch it on tv.

i would of preferred if they kept the same prices for this match.
if the price of a pint stays the same il be happy

    Apologies,

Jumped the gun a small bit. Also checked the Munster ML match the following week and thought they were the same price but after checking again (after the above post) I now realise they are indeed cheaper.

Can see why Connacht raised the price for this match but IMO it's not a smart move, given that people like me who are going to a Connacht match for the first time might be put of by these incresed prices (assuming they are the same every week).

Now just to get rid of those Friday games so I can attend more matches.

    HairyOne:

There was a lot of annoyed fans when they increased the prices at the start of last season. They increased from 10 for a student/OAP and 15 for an adult to 15 and 20 respectively. In fairness Connacht have very very little money for a professional side and so need all they can get, and the Galway crowds were not exactly astounding before the increase anyways. They haven't really decreased.

If you want you can get a group discount by getting your mates to come along. Just give Eoin at the branch a call and I think that the prices drop to 15pp (for adults...not sure about students). Not sure about the size of the group but I think it's 8 or 10.

As for the game on Saturday, it's a European knock out stage game against a Top 14 side. It's not exactly "same old-same old", so hopefully people are not too put off by the extra 5er.

what they should of done was offer a deal for this match

something like an option for edenbrugh and tomoros match at 30 for both tickets

They did have a deal at some of the recent ML games where you could get the Bourgoin tickets at 20e (I think).

I for one dont think it is that expensive for a huge European game for Connacht, Galway United are 15euro to see a standard league game and how much does it cost to see a GAA match? (genuine question as cant remember how much tickets were)

Yeah, for about the last 3 magners games if you bought a ticket at the game (inside the grounds) you'd get it for 20 euro. Plus season ticket holders got them for 20.

thehairyone : you answered your own question there – it’s your first time going to the Sportsground and there will be many others like you who may never go to a match again. Connacht desperately need the money. They are (once again) on the verge of being shut down by the IFRU.

For the previous three home games Connacht have been selling the Bourgoin tickets for the regular prices (€5, €15, €20)

As per Friday night matches – there has been a 20% increase at the gate and has remained steady since they moved them three seasons ago.

Diom: the increase two season ago was the first one at the gates in about 5 years. it came at the wrong time for people in this country but it was needed.

On a side note: never contact Eoin in the branch as he is a grumpy so and so who dislikes people. True story.

Its reasonably dear and they might have been better served to leave prices alone for this game and tried to make money from people once they got them in the ground but as webbs mentioned there was indeed a chance to purchase tickets at the usual price which was fair enough.

At some point the public are going to have to make a leap of faith in this team. We are the only team unbeaten in european competition, we are unbeaten in our last seven games at home, we played the better rugby away to the European champions two weeks ago, there are a number of current and future Irish internationals in the Connacht squad at present but we won't be able to keep these players and improve the squad further until people start to back the team.

Connacht matches aren't a cheap night out and I feel the Branch should make steps towards making it easier for people on welfare or students to get some discount and I feel they could make seasont tickets a lot more attractive, but look home euro q/f's with the opportunity of a home euro s/f don't come around too often. You might miss the extra few euro for a few days but if but you'll be kicking yourself more if you miss out on a great game of rugby
