    i work in a financal institution and have been told by a director that i am not allowed to discuss my contract with other staff members. Is this legal?

    Short answer YES! :D

    The reason an employer can instruct you not too talk about your contract is because, not all employees are created equally.

    If open discussion of personal T&C’s was allowed you probably find some people in the same department doing the same tasks and duties earn different salaries, or may have different or enhanced holiday / sick leave. Some may even have bonus packages that others may not.
