i am having a problem with my earphones for my ipod touch, only the left one is working. is this a problem with the earphones or the actual ipod?

Trying another set of earphones on the iPod, or trying the earphones on another device is the only way to know for sure which one the problem lies with. But it's most likely a problem with the earphones.
