    Hi all,

Just joined the site. Was looking for any advice on good spots to go backpacking for a month or so this summer as a lone female. I'm 24yo and I've already gone backpacking around parts of Asia, South America etc but this will be the first holiday I'm going solo. Don't particularly mind that as I'll meet people along the way, but I'm wary from past experiences about heading to certain spots, as I've got blonde blonde hair and tend to stick out a mile as a foreigner in some places. Have had some dodgy encounters with men in India, Turkey etc, last time I was there I was travelling with a male friend who told anyone who was hassling me that he was my husband..this time I wont have him. Anybody have any nice places to recommend? I'm up for going anywhere really, have kind of ruled out Australia in my head as I've only a month free and it seems like more of a trek than other places to get to. Would love to go back to Asia but have no idea where would be nice.

    Thanks for reading!

    Hiya

I'm 33 yrs old and looking to going to Barcelona in the end May to do a tefl course and see if I can get work over there for the summer,I'm looking for people who are either doing the same thing as myself or just or people that just want to travel around there as its always safety in numbers.

Well Europe has a huge amount to offer and you being under 26 will be able to avail of cheaper interail passes. Well im taking the plunge this year and taking the summer off in 2 weeks time and travelling around Europe, but because of my age ive decided to drive around Europe (Inter rail isnt what i want as i'll be staying in places a lot longer than a few nights so wont be cost effective).
Ive pre booked campsites, ferries already and have got some great deals.
Im heading down through France, ferry to Corsica and then Sardinia where I'll stay for 2 weeks. Across to East coast Italy up to South of France for 3 weeks before heading up to Switzland/Austria/Germany/Czech republic before seeing what funds i have left!

About being safe, im sure you'll soon pal up with someone and just use your common sense. One rule ive always used is if something sounds to good to be true it usually is! Also as long as you stay with people at night you should be fine.

One thing to be aware of is pickpockets, keep your valuables tucked away in a money belt thats close to your person.

Ive grown out of my party going years so dodgy bars/nightclubs wont be a problem for me.

The Internet is a great place to plan and book stuff. Google is your best friend.

    Have fun.

Another vote for the Czech Republic!! And Europe in general. You wont stick out in Europe and there are some really great places to see.

Transport is good and relatively cheap. As is food and drink so long as your choosey.

    Hi singletraveller!
Just wondering when you are planning to go travelling??
Because I am mad to go interrailing for 4-6 wees during the summer, from around 28th June or that. I can't get any of my friends to come with - all broke!! I can't handle another summer in Ireland. Don't particularly want to start off on my own.
I'm also a 24 year old female. Would love to go Central/Eastern Europe. Thinking of places like Dubrovnik, Prague, Split, Budapest, Krakow, Ljubljana, maybe Vienna!
I'd be very flexible though - a very easy going person!!
Anyway if you're interested in travelling with me or meeting up or whatever just let me now. I'd be looking to do it as cheap as possible but obviously staying in at least half decent hostels. Haven't really travelled before at all, only ever stayed 2 nights in a hostel in Edinburgh a few years ago and that was an experience to say the least!!
