Now this may be a stupid question. This is a eight horse race paying out on 3 at 1/5. If i remove the favourite at 1/3 and the two outside bets at 100/1 and 300/1 that leave 5 horses with 2 of them at worse case getting a place.

The 2nd favourite is 5/1 so if he places in it's money back. that leaves 4 other horses at odds of 16/1, 16/1 28/1 and 40/1. So if i back each of them to place and only the 16-1 does then i will still break even.

Am i just being silly doing this or is it worth the punt?

I'll tell ya what's even better. Ladbrokes (Can't believe i'm saying this) are offering 1/4 odds a place on all Aintree races.

Its now a 7 horse race and the odds have been adjusted accordingly.
