    So what makes a good tribute band in your eyes?

    What is the most important factor for a great tribute band? 15 votes

    They have to know their material note for note

    They have to look and dress like the "real" band

    I can to close my eyes and believe it's them

    If the "band" release new material, they have to keep up to speed

    Shouldn't that really be a multiple choice poll? I'd say a good tribute band should look, sound and play like the real thing but exceptions can be made where attractive women are concerned :p.

    I'd say nailing the sound is more important, looks being secondary. I saw a Doors tribute once that had a bassist, and the singer doubled on keyboards. And they werent dressed like the Doors in 60's - style clothes either.

    Exactly. They wouldn't be exactly what I'd call the most alike in terms of appearance. But they're fantastic playing.

    the grudge (tool) and Bulls on Parade(rage) are two of the finest tribute bands I have ever seen, bringing a very similar atmosphere of the bands they're a tribute to to smaller venues.
