Starting new job after unemployment

Hi, I have recently been offered a job (yey!) and start on Monday. What do I do now? Do I have to go into the Social Welfare Office and let them know about my new position, do they have my P45? What documentation do I give my new employer? I have been claiming JSB for just under a year now.

Any information will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    Hi

Congratulations on the new job: hope you enjoy getting back into the jobscene (and having money again!).

Yes, you need to contact SW asap to advise of your change in circumstances. If you've been claiming JSB, you should have a section of your P45 which you would have received from your last employer? SW would have a section of this when you submitted your JSB application and you would have retained another portion. And yes, you'll need to get this to your new employer.

It's also worth contacting Revenue Commissioners yourself when you start your new job to prevent excessive emergency tax.

    Good luck!
