Is this in relation to anything?

Still no definition in there, so no news really.

The definition won't be in there, that's the Act set in stone. I'd imagine the definition will be a Secondary Instrument or a document from the attorney general.

After looking at some profiles, it looks like someone's new to boards. Welcome :-)

what do you mean definition. its a section of the law written by the attorney general and passed into law by the president. definition does not come into it. the term public place and other such things must be defined but not a whole section of law. and also i think the poster just put this up for other people to have a look rather than peruse it on another website. to which i will say thanks man.

Definition of what is classified as a replica imitation firearm by comparison to prop weapons, model firearms, blank-firing firearms and fully capable firearms. There can be no grey area.

Their won’t be a definition of RIF, that is for the courts to decide if required, it won’t be contained in an SI an nowhere in the bill does it say "define RIF in a SI, or the minister has the power to define an RIF". A large amount of our laws are based on the reasonable man concept, the man on the Clapham omnibus, it is day one law school.

Define offensive from the term offensive weapon? This has come to be cork screws, bottles, knives, guns, tools, anything. It all depends on the context and the contest is drawn from an objective standpoint, the view of the reasonable man.

In our case it’s simple, if Joe public could reasonably think it as a real gun, it is a RIF.

Anyway, old news covered many times before and already well explained by the IAA for those who bother to look for it.

you cannot ship anything into the country that is a replica or otherwise under the new laws. and the law that is above is to do with replica toys that can fire under one joule. otherwise known as airsoft guns. there is no grey area. illegal legal right and wrong. no maybe involved. in relation to real and replica. the law above doesn't touch on the real sort. that is a complete separate law governing the transport, sale, licencing, and holding of a real gun that can fire a projectile with a muzzle velocity greater than that of one joule. it is like this to separate the two classes as toy and firearm therefore having no grey areas as you say. about importing i'm not sure call the customs office. obviously you need a licence before a purchase so i think you have to buy the gun or have a deposit down then you use your receipt to get the licence then you get your gun. but i'm not sure. customs or your nearest gun dealer

So thats a no then... Because I really want a Powerline because they shoot bb's at 750 fps and just want it for hunting.

When I habe bought before off amazon they put diffrent things on the box saying it is a toy train and stuff like that...

Thread doesn't really seem to have a purpose and isn't going anywhere so I'm going to close it.

    If it's under 1 joule it's legal, if it's over 1 joule it's a firearm. It's that simple.

    1 joule = 328fps with a .2g bb.

750fps with a .177 copperhead bb is many many joules. Therefore that is a firearm.
