funny, i was just going to ask about this.

my m1710 turned off the other night with an error m1004 code.
im out of warranty for last 15 months.

I dont want to replace my laptop, i love it, but i dont know if i can afford the 200 bucks to repair it.

Rang Dell today about my m1330. Faulty GPU. New mobo to be fitted tomorrow. Laptop is 18 months old. There was a standard 12 month warranty on the machine the GPU is covered by the 24 month warranty.

I was offered another 3 year warranty for €200. Considering taking the taught of the laptop dying once the extended warranty is up is not worth it.

but since nvidia openly said, hey we screwed up big time lads..

then the warranty doesnt come into it, as the machines we bought were not 'fit for the purpose' so to speak.

my m1710 (with a 7950) is still going, but if it goes kaput, i would for sure be chasing onto dell.

the fact that the gfx was changed twice already and a mobo would be sure to go in my favour that my system was part of nvidias batch.

a lot of idiots sent their m1710s to an early grave my tweaking them and running fear on their bed at 2am but still........

its nvidias problem. as much as dells, nvidia have set aside funds for this screw up.

someone on that link had a retro fit gfx card shoehorned into the 7950gtx subframe as a replacement

    so where theres a will......
