Mid Season Triathlon Training

    Hi

Entering my 3rd season as a triathlete and looking for advise on training during the race season.
I have my endurance cycles, runs & swims nearly complete with an excellent winters training behind me. Winter cycles capped at 100+Km, runs at 16km & swims & 2000m.
The problem I found in the last 2 seasons was fitting in training around races, taking tapering & recovery into account. Last year I burnt myself out by overtraining and 2 years ago I didn't do enough between races.
I've most of my races for the year picked and will be racing approx every second weekend.
At the moment i train approx 5 times a week but this does not seem realistic come race season.
This is what I am thinking, (with a race every 2 weeks in mind), any comments would be appreciated.

    Sun Race
    Mon Rest
Tues Cycle 60k (evening) & Swim (morning) 1500m
    Wed Rest
Thurs Run 12k (evening) & swim 1500m (morning)
    Fri Rest
Sat Olympic distance training session (bike & run only)
    Sun Swim 2000m
    Mon Rest
Tues Cycle 60k (evening) & Swim (morning) 1500m
    Wed Rest
thurs Run 12k (evening) & swim 1500m (morning)
    Fri Rest
    Sat Rest
    Sun Race

    Overracing.

You can race every two weeks for the summer but don't expect to get quality training in between races.

Actually looking at your programme is a case of overtraining and overracing. Where is the recovery after the rests built in? Unless you have a super huge aerobic engine with years and thousands of km ran, cycled and swam behind you - you need recovery.
