I have been there, and I would recommend it for weights, although I have never used the Kingfisher for weights, nor am I a pro, I was pleasantly surprised with Ocean. if you ring up I think they'll give u a free session to have a look around.
There are some funky machines in there too along with a big total separate weights room and plenty of free weights, the place is huge

I should get a referral fee

New gym opening in Salthill Hotel is very impressive. Think its called ocean fitness. Got in for look around last week. Its opening next week I think.
    Two swimming pools. 1 X 6 lane 25M pool and 1 X 18M pool.
Gym is massive - split into 3 sections and a seperate one for the bodybuilders. Lots of new type resistance machines.
4-5 rooms for spinning, classes etc..
Signing up this evening. Less than 100 euro per month for a couple.
Been to the Radisson, Kingfisher, NRG etc.. and nothing compares to the kit out of this one. Lets hope the managment do a good job!

I had a tour of Ocean Fitness a couple of months ago and was really impressed. Plenty of space, lots of free weights in their own section, and high quality personal trainers. I've recommended it to a number of patients, and they've all enjoyed it. One benefit I've heard is that, because it's fairly new, it's not as crowded as some of the other gyms in town.

It'd be worth popping in to take a look and see what you think.

I had a look at some pictures when it opened and it looked like the excercise machines look down on the pool - that really puts me off swimming there.

The pool is by far the best in Galway. Its permanently laned, so kids cant be utter asses in it.

They don't have a joining fee anymore and the student rate is the same as the off peak except it's full access.

It has a very good gym and pool.

Does anyone know if you can use the pool on a pay as you go basis?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,060 ✭✭✭Chris_5339762

    AFAIK no.

But you can get monthly memberships. Although they're pricy, you're not locked into a years contract.
