Hi, how do I find out if the water in my area is hard or soft? I'm in Clonlara in Co. Clare.
    Cheers.

The Irish Environmental Protection Agency offer a publication titled "The Hardness of Irish Drinking Waters" previously at a cost of 3.81 euros which lists most of the group water schemes in Ireland for approximate hardness based on conductivity.

Clonlara/Parteen in Clare is listed as a hard water or that which falls into the 201 to 300 ppm hardness range (or 410 to 550 conductivity).

The mean and median figures for the scheme are 464 and 465 conductivity.

    Hard water.

Looks like a water softener will sort the water out.
