The team relays are on this sunday at 2 in raheny. Any predictions on which dublin club will win it, and if any country club will actually turn up? We'll probally end up having the usual debate as to the pro's and con's of staging a national event in the same location each year.

Two points i'd like to raise are

1 - This race is too close to the national 10km.
2 - The format of 2,1,3,2 mile legs for the men's is too short. We should add another 2 legs of 1 and 2 miles - meaning teams of 6 which should allow clubs with broader depth of talent to prevail. I ran a leg of the UK relay for london irish a couple of years ago, where there was 10 legs in relay.

I think the reason for only four is so that smaller clubs can compete I mean how many clubs can field a team of 6-10 top quality runners to the level of Raheny, DSD and Clonliffe. With smaller numbers it means that more competition as means more clubs can compete the likes of Tallaght Finn Valley and few others can put in a top quality team to compete with the bigger clubs

the cru will do well with the madra and o brien. If Sligo AC had their first string all ready then the dubs would not have it all their own way. They would easily beat tallaght or Finn Valley.

Yeah sure they would but they gotta turn up and they havent the bottle;) The reason the DUBS do so well is they HAVE the bottle to turn up instead of making excuses about a 2hour drive.

The if's and buts of running. Its all about who you get out on the day.
Sligo won't be a force this year and Tallaght will struggle.
Raheny should have enough to win !!!Rathfarnam and Cloniffe prob missing few runners.
Crusaders would be my tip to challenge Raheny.

Seems a lot of names and legs are mixed up-great if you got some dudes faster time but mine is down as my team mates. Did anybody notice the errors etc. What a joke-national relay is important race-whos to blame for this farce?

    Two things cause this:

1 - clubs submit their entry, register team on the day and then don't run as per the registration.

2 - there are no athlete unique numbers, you get a club number. So, if clubs don't run in the order as registered, then there is no way to know who is who. The leg time will be right, the club will be right but the name may be wrong.

Athlete unique numbers and clubs specifying and sticking to their running order will solve the problem. Simple solution.

Can assure that my own club entered correct runners for correct legs yet the results are still mixed up by athlete (in our case between the first and second leg runners who were clearly indicated on the application/declaration forms) - maybe not a massive deal, but surely some kind of basic quality control would sort this out! Sloppiness like this from AAI leads to unnecessary criticism for an otherwise well organised and enjoyable event!

Is it worthwhile emailing the aai with the changes?
