JB and attending interviews

Right, currently on Jobseekers Benefit since last October, after being made redundant.

A certain Dutch company that my aunt works for in Holland have an interest of setting up a permanent sales person here, instead of staff continously having to fly over for sales calls, and my name has been put forward.

Thing is, if they want to see me in person, they've stated that I'll have to come to the head office in Amsterdam for an interview. Flights are cheap enough so I don't mind this. Its not definate yet, and they've said they'll give me plenty of notice so cheap fares can be got.

If they do want me to go, and the dates I need to go coincide with a payment day or signing day, how does one sort this out with the welfare, and will they be understanding?

If I decided to combine the interview with a short visit with my family (2-3 days), will this be frowned upon? And if arrangements are put through, and I'm going Tuesday to Friday missing a payment, will this payment be given to me the week before?

    Thanks for any help

You're entitled to x amount of holidays i guess maybe not right term from the dole. If you go in and say you'll be out of the country on these dates they will accept it and there will not be an issue. Do it sooner rather than later because they can refuse you but most are understanding. The missed payment from my experience will be there the following week. Good luck with any potential interview,i hope you get a job! :)

They won't refuse it, just make sure its no later than 2 weeks before you go that you inform them.
