    hi guys,
im looking at getting a remote for snaping with my 30d.ive been reading that there are infared or cord-based ones. Any recomendations on which is the better option ? or is it a given that th infared is better as they are more expensive?
    thanks a million

I got a radio one in calumet in belfast for about £20-30, works a treat and the range is around 100 feet so good for remote work too.

Have a look at these, Phottix.com. I've got one and it works a treat. The model I have now is discontinued, but they have a range of others that look really good.

I've ordered a Phottix Cleon II remote of eBay last week for my new 50D, but should work on the 30D as well.

The good thing is you can use it both with cord and wireless if you like. And much cheaper than the original Canon remotes. I hope to receive it within the next few days so until then can't give you any thoughts about it.

Just to let you know I have now received the remote and just tested it and works great. It doesn't come with a lot of documentation, but there's some brief instructions written on the box.

Anyways, it's working both wireless and on wire, there's also a 2sec delay and continuous shooting mode which both work fine too, although I prefer to set this as a camera function rather than on the remote. With the camera setting you can also do a 10sec delay e.g. which isn't available on the remote. Also when you use the camera setting you have that warning light on the front of your cam blinking, you don't have that when you use the 2 sec delay on the remote.

Bulb works fine as well of course. So I can recommend this one if your looking for a cheaper option than the official Canon remotes.
