Woo hoo, two hours of Bauer power :). TVRage.com summary, episode 15:
Hassan trades himself for the radiological device, but President Taylor learns of the arrangement and Rob Weiss' involvement. She orders Jack to recover Hassan, but the mole within CTU makes the mission problematic.

    http://www.tvrage.com/24/episodes/1064830615/8x15

    and episode 16:
The mole in CTU is revealed, and tries to make a deal for freedom.
Using the information gained, Jack and Renee set out to rescue Hassan before the terrorists can force him to confess his crimes and pay for his "treason." However, they discover that Samir is one step ahead of them.

    http://www.tvrage.com/24/episodes/1064830616/8x16

They both sound good on paper, though very predictable... still, I've enjoyed the episodes with "classic" 24 moments most this season, so looking forward to watching these later...

    Oooooooh. Double episode :)

Two great episodes. I'm surprised at myself but I liked the old mole in the hole cliche ;)

I suspected it might happen but Holy sh1t they DID kill off Hassan. Pretty Shocking

Still annoys me how Dana was such a wimp with Kevin and now she's a pro killer!!! It's like they thought of it half way through filming the story arc.

Agreed, two excellent episodes and shocking ending! Still though, I'm surprised they gave up the bomb so easily and why didn't Hassan just use his pistol to kill Tarin in the jeep?
But still very good episodes :D

No reason for all the spoiler tags folks :) - I only spoilered that one part in the synopsis because it seems to give a lot away and it was the first post in the thread, but anything after that doesn't need the tags, as the title clearly states spoilers within (except of course if you are talking about future episodes)!

What about that Russian ambassador that potus just met? Would that carry any significance?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,230 ✭✭✭Beanstalk

It could be that the russians were funding the terroists to sabotage the peace deal. Awesome episodes. I really liked Hassan. :(

Can't forget that Jack's family was involved in the drama (nearly) every season so far. We got a glimpse of his daughter and the little one at the very start.... so... you'd nearly expect the terrorist to get hold of them somehow in the next few episodes???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,578 ✭✭✭✭Turtwig

Anyone else think that Hassan's death and the way it was revealed marks up there among the Ryan Chappelle death? Gotta say that was a brilliant double bill of 24. Glad to see it looks like it's going out on a high. Arlo is one lucky man too. :)
Preview for next week below. Looks like we might a get a hint at who Dana was really working for.

The best episodes of this season by far.

The Dana stuff was still pretty poorly done at the start, and some of the CTU stuff not great, but enjoyed Power Bauer and Starbuck facing off in the intregation room!

Kinda expected Agent Freckles to get shot by the wig woman, but it did not come to pass!

Excellent ending, the whole Hassan plot for this episode was gripping, particularly when you think some of this seasons weakest moments involved Hassan.

Anyone else wondering where this is gonna go? Hopefully some Tony action before the end!

Another thing- Has anyone else been surprised by Freddie Prince Jr? Was expecting him to stink the **** out of the show everytime he appeared on screen, but, while hes hardly been award winning, hes been pretty effect as a mini Jack.Hes still no Chase though :(

Now that's 24 at its best. brilliant episodes.
    Roll on next week...

There have been some pretty dire early episodes this season but it's really picking up the pace now. Pretty sad about Hassan but at least the hairdo held up till the end.

    Brilliant stuff. Top notch.

I was sad to see Who Wants To Be A Millionaire! die in the end.
For all his mispronunciations he was a lovable rogue.

It's always satisfying to see traitors and moles get theirs.
Too bad for Dana that Hassan didn't make it.

90% of the time it's the Russians or Chinese backing the terrorists.
Jack to storm the Russian embassy in 5...4...3...2...

Migraine tablets.... worst.mole.EVER. Nina would have eaten her for breakfast.

    That was AWESOME!

I was on the edge of my seat!

The most enjoyable 2 episodes of anything I have watched in ages!

    Bring back 24!

I can't wait to find out what happens next!

    Go Jack! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,906 ✭✭✭J-blk

Silent clock! Yay! The return of classic 24 continues...

Great episodes indeed, thrilling the whole way through. Not sure I want to watch that preview for episode 17 but I do wonder where they will go from here.

The good that comes from Hassan's death though is that skanky b*tch Dana doesn't get to walk free :) (the immunity deal was "conditional"). Though all the episodes after she was revealed as the mole were pretty great, it does not make up for all the crap we had to put up with up to that point. But I hate her character so much anyway that I really didn't want to see her get away with it all...

I expect a bit of a lull next week as they set up everything for the end of the season, but still, very much looking forward to it now :D.

Forgot to mention the silent clock, used to great effect again. Brilliant.

Just when I thought 24 had lost it they bring it back to life with some of the best TV this year. Loved it. 8 episodes left and if they are as good as that the show really will go out with a bang!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,265 ✭✭✭Seifer

    Awesome pair of episodes :D
Love the dark twist of Hassan dying. It's one of the reasons the show has impressed me since season one (
    Nina killing Teri
    ), everyone's expendable; except Jack obviously :P

    Brilliant Episodes.

Really sad that this is the last season now as it has really picked up, that was classic stuff last night, the heart was pounding and I was on the edge of my seat.

Kinda knew Hassan wasn't going to make it, I thought it would be too good to be true if they managed to save him.

I think the Russians are going to be involved somehow after that meeting with the President.

    Fantastic stuff.

you just know tony has his dirty hands all over this, will be interesting to see if hes working with the russians or maybe hes using the russians or cover,

excellent epsidoe and omar got his silent clock awww,

what the hell was dana thinking in all fairness, as soon as theres a APP put out on you and your standing in the entrance of CTU, you aint going nowhere:D,

best episode of the season by a bit

Pretty sure Carlos Bernard said in an interview he was not approached about appearing in Season 8. I have no source to confirm this, but I hope i'm wrong, Tony was my favourite 24 character and would love to see him return,

I dont know if you'd call Carlos Bernard in the same league but when George Clooney was returning to the final ever shows of ER as well as other original or well liked early cast members, it was kept under wraps to keep it as quiet as possible.
So, it is possible Tony might return. You never know. Then again, maybe not.

As far as I see it, Tony's whole aim was to get Wilson, and he did that [as much as he could]
So I can't see him comin back

    Mandy FTW!!!!!!!

Sad about Hassan, but good shock.

Seriously though, why do they all use the same hooker-wig as a disguise for the womens :P (Marie Warner)

Shootout was good, but a bit silly. If she was flagged to be arrested, they ovo would have had a lockdown, which I'm guessin would block the tunnel entrances too

One MAJOR thing that sucked about this episode!

    It means there's only 8 left :(

You do remember we're talking about the same organization that cannot prevent random hillbilly parole officers or cars loaded with EMPs from just wondering right in to the building, right? :P

I'm guessing what we saw was the "lockdown" :D.

It was a pity about the security guard getting shot. It seems he was the only person in the history of 24 capable of maintaining a perimeter.

Given that nothing surprises me with 24, it wouldn't surprise me if the dead "Hassan" just happened to be a lookalike, and that the real one is hiding under Tony Almeida's table.

    I know, thats my point

When they copped Kayla had the emp she was already in the tunnel

But even the fact that Kevin got to the doors was naff, where's the bleedin moat FFS?!

Excellent stuff. Episode 16 was particularly compelling. I did not expect Hassan to die at all. A really excellent and shocking ending.
I love that the main villain guy is dead. He was terrible. He kept the same expression and same monotone voice every single scene.

I do have a big worry that this will go the way of some previous seasons and will fizzle out badly. For whatever reason the writers of 24 are terrible at pacing out a season. I was hoping the nuclear rods plot would go to the end and as far as I can see there is literally no plot left which means starting out afresh and introducing new supervillains. All of which will take time and ultimately will result in a few slower episodes. I really want it to end on a high. Hopefully they can prove my concerns wrong.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,835 ✭✭✭unreggd

Yeah I was thinkin the same, the whole nuke-rod case seems closed now, but Dana kept hinting she was working for someone higher up

I still don't know if the the nuke plot was already planned, or decided last minute when they realised they wouldn't get them out of the US

Hopefully Chloe gets to kill someone before the day is done :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 937 ✭✭✭whosedaddy?

Well - just rememeber it was the Russian mafia that got the rods into the US in the first place... not too far fetched to have them involved again... for plan B.

    That is true...

Its seems so long ago now, since the Russians where involved with the rods, had completely forgotten.

Why was this a double episode for American apce and not for those on Sky 1 pace?

Also i am surprised how many enjoyed this episode although Hassan been killed was a bit of a shock in fairness. He didn't deserve silent clock though!

One thing that annoyed me about this ep, and its kind of small niggly thing, was uploading the phone's data to CTU. So the phone has a function to send internal memory to a location but doesnt have a call log feature?!?! On my phone you press the green button press left and there is a list of the last people who rang you!

Hassan's death was excellent, the pre-recording thing was rather a smart move. Hanging around afterwards...wasn't. I kinda hope Hastings just says "Do what you have to" to Cole, (I know it won't happen though!). Dana's been crying out for a bullet since the season started. Or will her employer have her killed? The still for the preview of the next episode shows a sniper, he has to shoot someone...
