Do any companies still do deals where you could depart and return same day to and from places like New York?

Why in Gods name would you want to do that? New York is a whole day of travelling in itself

At best i reckon you could squeeze 7 hours in if you're heading into Manhattan.

    It's doable,

out of Dublin with Continental, at 09.00 gets you into Newark for 11.25, last one back that night departs 21.55

or first AA fight out of London departs at 08.30 gets you into JFK for 11.00, last one back that night departs 23.35

    Doable ? yes.

    Practical ? Not really.

For 100 euro you could get a stayover in an ok guesthouse and you would not be wrecked. Well, not wrecked that much.

I stay in the chelsea lodge.

I can't believe anyone would only visit this great city for a day! I've heard of people going to London for a day but this beats all. OP, you'll be wrecked. it is a tiring journey, about 6-7 hours on the plane.

It would be really worth your while to stay for a few nights, there is so much to see!

Don't waste your plane fare, just to stay a few hours.
