i have a roll film that is like acetate

i used it to make graphics for a nightclub

    solid looking type works best

solid looking type?if i has stencils with solid colours, would the black hold back light from a flash?

No it wouldn't hold back light completly, ink isn't truly opaque so you would see light through

another option is I could cut text out of a board using my computer mount cutter when it arrives, you could then fill the holes with coloured gel or prints on clear film etc

What kind of printing process? You can get acetate film for Inkjet and Laser printers. I have had good results with Stephens brand inkjet film on my HP inkjet and Staedtler Lumocolor film on my monochrome 1200dpi laser printer.

Don't use inkjet film in a laser printer. The heat from the fuser roller will melt it into a horrible and potentially very expensive mess.

i use a HP clear film

its not the cheapest, but its very good, i have done a bunch of acrylic panels for a nightclub with it.

th only thing thats a pain is the printer cant see the end so it cant load it, you have to stick a line of tape on the end so the printer has something to see

its 835 or something wide too so can do quite large pieces with it

at some point i gonna try making a big digital print negative and do some contact prints from it. but just not got round to it yet

The Stephens film has a strip of white paper bonded to one edge. This lets the printer 'see' it and it also gives the printer feed mechanism a slightly coarse surface to grab.
