Thinking of buying the new Mac Mini (2.26 ghz intel core 2 duo) and was wondering whether I need to buy a HDMI cable for it. Also, can anyone confirm that 1080p YouTube works well?

    Cheers

You'll actually need to get a DVI-HDMI adapter as well as the physical HDMI cable. The 9400M will handle full HD videos no problem

The base 2.26Ghz can handle HD with no issues, that's the model I currently have. Besides DVI to HDMI, you could also just get a mini-Displayport to female HDMI adapter instead, like this one (since current Minis have both mini-DVI and mini-Displayport):

Note that audio won't be outputted over DVI, and there are rumours of an updated Mac Mini with a built-in HDMI on the way.

What exactly do you mean when you say that audio is not outputted over DVI. I have a external speakers if that makes any difference?

The audio won't be transferred from mini to tv when usig dvi. You will need to connect your external speakers to the Audio out (headphone jack) of the mini.
