Eircom Router Problem

    Hey guys

I have no problem connecting to my internet at home wirelessly on my laptop. Equally we have one desktop PC which is directly plugged into our router.

However, when I try to plug my laptop into the router with a network cable (trying to download something faster) it won't connect to the internet over the cable.

Any ideas what the problem is?

Do you have the drivers installed for your network card on the laptop?
In XP/Vista go to Start->Run and type in devmgmt.msc and scoll down to the network adaptors.
You should have one for your wireless card and another for your network card.
