Feeling a bit thick here. Very basic question.

Anybody know how to work a sunlite bicycle frame pump.

Two holes at end of pump, one marked "S" and the other "P". From a brief googling session i presume s is schrader and that seems to be the standard fitting and appears to be the one on my bike.
When using the pump air only seems to come out of this hole anyway. However, when I attach this s hole to the wheel it just seems to let air out of the tyre.
I tried to attach a little connector thing from a football pump but it doesn't fit s hole on the bike.

Ensure pump lever is parallel with pump when attaching to tube valve. Then lift it so it is perpindicular to pump to seal the connection. This should prevent the air loss.
To remove straighten it again and remove quickly so no air escapes. Attach and remove as quickly as possible to minimise air loss.
