Why don't UPC carry all the Sky Movies channels ? They don't have 'Sky Movies Showcase' and 'Sky Movies Crime & Thriller'.

Not sure, not enough capacity maybe?
Virgin over in the UK carry all 12 channels so I don't think it's a rights issue.

Virgin is in the UK and what they have has no baring on what UPC may have.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Virgin a Cable Company, providing a Digital Cable Service? So why can't we compare cable companies? If another in another country can manage to get the rights, if it's rights that are the issue, why can't another, in our case UPC manage to secure the same.

Granted, Virgin doesn't operate in our country, but there isn't really any other cable alternatives we can compare UPC against now....

As an example, the latest Ofcom ruling about Sky Sports being provided at a lower cost will have an effect on Virgin Media but will have absolutely no influence on prices here.

Poor example on my part then. Trying to make out that the reason for UPC not having the two extra channels was not down to the same reason you can't get Dolby Digital or HD content on these channels outside of Sky's platform ie. sky not allowing the content to be redistributed.

Anyway, a quick search of Magnet Entertainment shows that they have all 12 movie channels available, albeit at a slightly more expensive price of €37 per month.

Not quiet true, it sets a precedence and should help UPC in negotiations with Sky. If Sky don't play ball UPC can then forward it to EU competition authorities.

They won't get the same low price, but they should be able to negotiate lower prices.

Would be fantastic to have some HD movie channels. Seeing as Virgin will be airing Film4 Hd soon I wonder if there's any chance UPC could also get it.
