When I was being proposed to join a club I asked two members to write letters for me and ghe duly informed me that I write the letter and the would sign it!!!!!!!!!!! Didn't join it in the end as I received a letter back thanking me for my application and I was successful in getting on the list for an application form. Did get a call 1 year later asking was I still interested in joining.

All it is these days is a formal application in writing that a person wishes to join a club.
    *********************************************************
Dear ... whoever.. usually the Hon Sec.

I would like to propose Joe Soap for membership of our club.

Joe is very interested in golf and keen play on a more regular basis.

I know his father very well, and I feel sure that Joe will go on to become a

valuable member of the club if accepted.

    Yours etc.
    *******************************************************

That should cover it, these days most clubs are crying out for membership so it should just be a formality provided he has the spondoolicks:D
