I have a Mac usb HDD with a few movies on it. It is possible to connect this USB HDD to my XP machine ans copy the movies to it?

Is this a bridge too far?

What format is the drive? If it is FAT32, yes. If it is HFS+, no, you'll need to get one of those Windows utilities for reading Mac drives.

Does that mean that if I format a FAT32 drive on windows that i can copy a file from a mac onto that drive and then see the file using XP?

Yep, you sure can, but beware, fat32 has a file size limit of 4gb.
