Just got back a few weeks ago from my latest trip from the states,my fiancee thinks she may be pregnant,we havent started the visa application yet as we do not know what the best way to do it is,was thinking of marrying her when i return next month, then i will be able to fly her over to ireland to have the baby as i have vhi and it is a lot less expensive than the states, will this be possible? but because i have a stable job here making good money the fiance visa would only give me a certain window in which to immigrate,so maybe the best option would be to go for the spouse visa instead.I really dont know what to do here,i need all the advice i can get.she cant move here permanently as she has a child already and joint custody with her ex.so moving here permently is not an option,i have to go there.

please leave me any advice, personal experiences or any info that might be useful.thanks guys.

    from a worried irishman

Jebus I don't know. Complicated! I think you should speak to a solicitor who specialises in immigration/visa issues.

you got back a few weeks ago and she "thinks" she "may" be pregnant. Tell her to take a bloody test first and find out if you really have anything to worry about before you go consulting solicitors/making visa applications.

anyway, from your post I'm really confused - do you want to go there permanently, or do you want her to come here permanently???

either way, getting married to assist in getting a visa is never a good reason. Get married because you want to spend the rest of your lives together, not for the sake of paperwork.

Ok, first things first, get her to go to her doctor pronto to see if she's actually pregnant before you start worrying. If she is, moving her over here so you can use your VHI to pay for the hospital costs won't work out unless she's already on your policy. If she's signed up to VHI as a new member, or if she's added on to your policy, there is a 1 year waiting period for maternity benefits (ie you have to have the policy for a year before falling pregnant), so if she's pregnant now, the child will already be born before she'll be eligible to claim!

As I said, she needs to get to a doctor and confirm 100% whether or not she's pregnant, then take it from there.
