    Do I have to have watched Godfather part I to understand/follow Godfather part II?

    Not a very helpful post, but why would you want to???
    Just grab the box set from play.com or wherever and watch them all!

    You'll be skipping past one of the most highly rated films of all time if you do

    dont think youd have to really, i much prefer the second movie but seeing as theyre usually packaged as one unit i dont see why you wouldnt watch them in sequence

    To answer your question OP, I wouldn't say it's absolutely essential but Godfather Part I will give you a lot of background on both main characters. It will help you care more about the characters.

    Hence the reason for my thread. Godfather Part II is on RTE 2 tonight, i've no time to buy the boxset!!

    Havent seen Godfather in a few years and although I've seen it a few times didnt wanna watch Part 2 tonight without having another look.OP Maybe someone you know has the boxset you can borrow or something and watch them all in sequence?
