uk reg van need advice

    this is my first post here so sorry if i have put this in the wrong section ok need some advice ive just bought my first car well its a small van i bought it from a private seller in the north its a uk reg i know nothing about cars so i got a mechanic to check it out all seemed ok,my cousin told me about a site where you enter the reg and get the history of the vechicle so i thought id try it but when i entered the reg it says there no record of my reg ! does this mean the van i bought has false plates or was a right off ? any help is appreciatted as im sick now thinking ive been ripped off

    As soon as you try to VRT it you should know the full story

    Did you get the V5 documentation or just buy it with no documentation at all?

    i filled in my details on the log book and he said he sends it away and i get it back in my name then.

    well, that's not good. Why'd you do that ? Did neither of you read the V5C ? .........
